Our Executive Director
Ms. June M. Hutcheson was appointed to the position of Executive Director of Grand Bahama Children’s Home on March 8, 2021.
She grew up in Grand Bahama but relocated to Florida as a teen. After completing university, she moved to Nassau to begin her career with the Catholic Board of Education. Ms. Hutcheson has earned a MS in Varying Exceptionalities from Nova Southern University and a BS in Psychology and Criminology from St. Leo University. She has conducted several staff development workshops, parent information seminars, and a certificate in ADR Mediation.
Prior to her appointment as Executive Director, Ms. Hutcheson served as an accomplished administrator with over thirty-five years in Administration, Education, and Counselling experience with the Bahamas Catholic Board of Education. She is recognized for pioneering the Guidance and Counselling Program within the Catholic schools across the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Her responsibilities there included supervising counsellors, supporting faculty and managing the mental health and learning outcomes of children four through seventeen years of age. Her legacy is her ability to motivate and encourage young people to see their possibilities and provide strategies to support them in working toward making their goals a reality.
Ms. Hutcheson has a passion for making a difference in the lives of our nation’s youth. This passion coupled with her charismatic personality has afforded her the opportunity to develop partnerships with businesses, community professionals and organizations both locally and internationally. She is committed to developing relationships with like-minded individuals who desire to provide assistance to those in need, particularly young people.
As she assumes her new portfolio with the Grand Bahama Children’s Home, Ms. Hutcheson’s mission is to provide and promote the highest quality care while ensuring the safety and well-being of the children residing in the home. Her aim is to work with the board and her staff to ensure that the GBCH’s mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.
Ms. Hutcheson is the proud mother of three adult children. She enjoys gardening, cooking, salsa dancing, and traveling.
